Imagined playing games on the Google homepage? Our gateway to web access is Google, it's our entry-point to the Internet. Imagine being plugged on to playing at the very entrance of the Internet. Yes, I am referring to playing Pac-man on Google.Continuing its tradition of doodling with logos and coming up with something new and interesting every time, Google has set a new benchmark this time, by providing its users with a playable version of Pac-man, a very popular arcade game of the 1980s.

Pac-man, we all love to play it! Pronounced Pakkuman in Japanese, Pac-man is an arcade game developed by Namco, a video game development corporation in Japan. The distribution rights of Pac-man are with Midway, an American video game publishing and development corporation headquartered in Chicago. Pac-man was released in Japan on May 22, 1980. From the time it was released, its popularity has only grown. It is very popular in the United States and is considered as a classic. The release of Pac-man has proven to be a turning point in the history of video games as it has given rise to an altogether new genre of games and amassed great popularity. Pac-man boasts of being the most famous arcade game of all time and is one of the longest running video game franchises that belonged to the golden age of arcade video games, an era when video arcade games enjoyed tremendous popularity and growth. Pac-man is also one of those three games which are on display at the Smithsonian in Washington DC.

Today, 30 years after its release, Pac-man reigns the world of video games and makes millions feel nostalgic about the golden era of arcade games - the 1980s. If you are one of those, you might remember those cute-looking monsters (you can't help calling them cute) and their funny names, Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. Remember, they run around the maze trying to get hold of Pac-man - that yellow little 'man', trying to escape from the clutches of those monsters. Remember those flashing dots, which give our Pac-man the power to eat the monsters. Brave Pac-man! And as you continue playing, you can advance to higher levels. All in all, Pac-man is a highly interactive 27-level game and you must try playing it at least once. You are sure to get addicted!

And today, to everyone's amusement, Google has given its users an opportunity to play Pac-man. Yes, you can play Pacman on Google! Try playing it, you'll forget what you had come to Google for. For a second, you might even forget it's a search engine and start playing Pac-man...addictively! Well, Google does not let you forget what it is; after the game is over, it directs you to search results for 'Pac-man 30th anniversary'. Yes, today, May 22, Google is celebrating the 30th anniversary of this very popular arcade game, Pac-man! Playing Pac-man on Google is fun. You need to insert a coin before you begin to play; well not literally. You just need to click on 'insert coin', a new entrant on the Google home page, a temporary replacement for 'I am feeling Lucky'. Hit on Insert Coin and begin playing Pac-man on Google. The interactive layout will remind you of the original Pac-man. In fact, Google's Pac-man is no less than the original.
