Designing is an important area, of course a front end part of any stream. A designer should have a sound knowledge in design concept and methodologies. Portfolio is very important for a designer as it shows his quality. The portfolio items need to be different and diversified. Have a good design on all areas such as logo, packaging, band identity, web layout etc. If its a graphic designer, its necessary to have very good designs for different concepts. Portfolio can be either done in flash or just images. These two things has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of using flash is, interactivity will be better. Flash can give richness in portfolios. The disadvantage of having images is, its a normal and age old practice. If portfolio is little bit larger sometime some people won't have patience to see all the images. The major disadvantage of flash is that, person who sees the portfolio should have patience. If the flash consists of too bright colors and more animation, it's a negative point for designers. The advantage having images is, we can explain our idea behind a design and we can have a choice of seeing a design of what we need.
